Terroir Club


Welcome to Hungary's premier source of Europe's natural wines. As a wholesaler and retailer, we strive to offer a range of wines that reflect their origin and are in harmony with their surroundings. These "terroir wines" are often organic and sometimes biodynamic. Our selection represents small European estates producing handcrafted wines. "Small wineries" unfortunately means a limited supply of wines. However, this also allows us to refresh our stock from month to month. Europe's treasures are waiting to be rediscovered and it is our mission to present the "wine reality" we have inherited from centuries of tradition. These wines from the "Old World" are not to be considered together with the market's flood of "New World" wines. You can be sure that a wine chosen from our collection will provide a unique and unrepeatable experience, be it for yourself or as a gift. Our team is always happy to offer any information or advice regarding wine tasting, drinking or storage. We promise a welcoming and attentive staff to all our customers. Marketing costs are kept to a minimum and our staff is few so that we can deliver competitive pricing. The tiny details do not escape our attention either. For example, our air-conditioned delivery truck allows us to maintain perfect storage conditions even outside the store while stuck in traffic on a 35˚C summer day.

Why Terroir?

"Terroir" encompasses the characteristics offered by the climate, microclimate, geology, soil, and farming techniques in a given grape-growing region. Added to these foundational factors, the aspect (South, South-East, etc.), the altitude, and the winemaker all have important roles. And backing up the winemaker's hand are the region's history, culture, and traditions. The concept of "terroir" claims that wine from a given plot of land cannot be replicated elsewhere. The grape variety, the cultivation, and the winemaking can all be copied with precision but the wine will always be different. Winemakers from Burgundy usually emphasize that they are not making Burgundy Pinot Noir, they are making unique Burgundy wine for which the Pinot Noir variety is best able to represent the "terroir". It's important to note that in winemaking low quality work can ruin the value of even the best vineyards.

Why Club

The club will bring together our friends the wine producers with our valued customers. Our goal is to create a place which is always worth jumping in to for a look. The atmosphere will always make our fellow wine enthusiasts feel at home, be it for an evening tasting or just an afternoon visit. It's our duty to make this a reality so that we too can be a part of the club.

Safe wine storage

This is Terroir Club's special service for those individuals, wine collectors, and companies who wish to store their collections under perfect conditions in a safe place. Wine enthusiasts from big cities all over the world struggle to find good storage settings for their wines. It's a serious challenge to create and maintain the optimum conditions of temperature and humidity (also lighting and security...) to allow their collection to mature properly. Don't forget that our long sought-after and dearly protected wines only reward us if their maturation environment is ideal. The same wine stored 1-2 years under ideal conditions versus conditions where its requirements were ignored will yield entirely different results. Terroir Club guarantees to maintain the optimal environment to provide a long and harmonious life for the wines laid down here. Budapest's collectors now have a secure place to store over 100 000 bottles. Our goal is to make dealing with and storing wine comfortable and secure for our customers.
